Public Response On Homer

the Odyssey plays like a monster of the week series. Your basic traveling bard could pay for his supper for ages by telling one story involving a monster a night.

As far as the Marvel idea goes, everything in culture keeps coming back and everybody believes it's their own original idea. There is nothing new under the sun.

The information in this video is exactly the same information as Robert Fagles introduction to his translation of Iliad and in the exact same order. I can't tell if this was the sole source of information for this video and regurgitated in exactly the same order, or pure coincidence
Sonja Johnson10 Months ago
An interesting note that these epics would have been sung or chanted, not spoken. I wonder, would that have been true of Norse skaldic poetry as well? Perhaps a reason - or rather, ANOTHER reason - for all those kennings? Hmm!
